Berlin Farmers’ Market Sets Dates for 2022, Considers Opening Day Celebration for May | News

BERLIN – The Farmers’ Market along U.S. Highway 278 East has produced a hit with Berlin-area shoppers in a short time, leading city leaders this year to gear up for a bigger opening day – and more accommodation for local farmers who sell on the site.

With input from local growers who will be setting up outlets at this year’s market, Berlin will host a Farmers’ Market Opening Day celebration on Saturday, May 21 at the market site at the corner of Hwy 278 and County Road 1615 (Mt. Carmel Drive).

This year’s market will run from May 21 to October 29, featuring the opening day event with plenty of homemade goods and treats (of course), plus unique pop-up shops, a LifeSouth blood drive, and children’s activities with food and games. Opening hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

City officials say there are two remaining bay spaces for area growers to claim under the market pavilion all season long. But the city also plans to welcome additional vendors to the surrounding grounds, once all pavilion spaces are filled.

The cost to participate as a registered seller for the entire 2022 shopping season at the market is $100 for residents of Berlin; $150 for residents who live within the Berlin Fire Zone coverage area and $200 for everyone else.
