Farmer’s market open on Saturday

June 18—The Woodward Farmers Market is open 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 13th St. and Locust Ave.

The Oklahoma Nutrition Information and Education Project (ONIE) believes that “all families should have access to quality food and having more farmers’ markets that accept SNAP and EBT allows them better access to food. of the highest quality that their community can offer,” said Meredith Scott, with the ONIE Project.

ONIE Project members will visit the Woodward Farmers Market on July 2, accompanied by their film crew, to speak with community leaders.

“There is a huge upside to accepting SNAP. You increase your growers’ income, build customer loyalty for them, and open up more opportunities as a market. Once you accept SNAP, it opens up the opportunity for you to ‘Accepting OK Fresh Senior Benefits’, Meghan Bradley, Co-Director of Scisortail Farmers’ Market. The advantage of the senior farmers market is provided by OKDHS.

“We have many recipe cards that show a product feature on one side and tell the customer how to choose, store and select the product. Then on the back there is a healthy recipe. We also have a guide that says to the customer exactly what they can and cannot buy with their SNAP and Senior Farmers Market Benefit,” Scott said.

On the first Saturday of each month, the Woodward Farmers Market will also include a flea market. Products, crafts, pastries, canned vegetables and salsas. Farm fresh eggs, beef, jerky and other items. Inflatable houses, live music and the possibility of having food trucks will also be available.
