Lewes Farmers’ Market names 2022 Fellows

For 15 years, the historic Lewes Farmers Market has provided scholarships to small Delmarva farmers to attend sustainable agriculture conferences, including the annual Pasa Sustainable Agriculture Conference, the Future Harvest CASA Conference, the Mid-Atlantic conference on fruits and vegetables, etc.

This year, the HLFM awarded four scholarships.

Craig Brady of Stag Run Farm in Georgetown received funds from the regular scholarship fund.

In 2016, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market established a scholarship fund for emerging women farmers in loving memory of Delaware farmer Debra L. Schaefer. This year, three women farmers received a Debra L. Schaefer Emerging Women Farmer Award: Jenny Dittmar, Dittmar Family Farms, Felton; Talon Holleman, ROOTS Youth Development, Georgetown; and Dani Winters, Winters Farm Florals, Salisbury, Maryland.

In line with its mission, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market Board is committed to supporting farmers and emerging farmers who grow local fruits, vegetables, produce and other foods. These scholarships help small farmers in Delmarva learn more about sustainable farming practices.
