New Season: Farmers Market Begins June 4 | New

The Clatskanie Farmer’s Market is refreshed and ready to fill the baskets and bellies of the community!

The Clatskanie Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday from June 4 to September 24 at Copes Park in Clatskanie.

Farmers and artisans, artists and food makers, musicians and storytellers polish their offerings as spring begs to break away from winter. Only the promise of sunshine fuels our drive to make Oregon’s coolest little market…a little cooler.

CFM’s outdoor market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday, June 4 through September 24, in Cope’s Park in downtown Clatskanie.

This year, the market will host a range of fresh and exciting experiences, including new vendors, new live music and guest performances, the annual Unwavering Festivals, catered movie nights, farm-to-table dinners , an increased focus on food aid currency purchases, and a shiny new website with an online calendar to help you keep track of it all.

The market’s mission to bring fresh local produce to friends, family and highway travelers will see the revival and enhancement of the beloved “Community Booth”, a place where any affluent person can consign or donate fresh produce to sell. If you’ve made all the apple cider you can drink, canned all the cinnamon applesauce you can store, and still have a heavy tree laden with crops, bring the bounty to the community stand for shoppers of the Saturday market. Or simply grow a garden to share! Either way, the market welcomes and is ready to sell all the fresh, chemical-free produce, from asparagus to zotatoes, you have to offer…there is far more wealth in our collective backyards than only one person can do it, and it’s also an opportunity to earn some money! More information about the community stand can be found on the market’s website.

Additionally, CFM has developed and streamlined the ability of people receiving food aid to use their currencies in the market. SNAP/EBT checks, Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), Farm Direct Nutritional Program (FDNP) and Power of Produce (PoP) tokens can all be used for

buy fresh, healthy, locally grown food. Thanks to a generous statewide incentive grant, shoppers who purchase twenty dollars worth of SNAP tokens will also receive $20 in Double Up Food Dollars to spend on fresh produce. The Power of Produce program offers all children ages 3-12 a $2 token to spend on fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs or plant food while engaging with our local farmers. Visit the community booth to collect your tokens!

As if regular market days weren’t exciting enough, the market will host a pollination celebration on June 25; a garlic festival on August 20; and an Apple Pressing Festival on September 24, filled with interactive activities, guest vendors, large groups, and family fun! Each event will be followed by an outdoor after-hours film screening with complimentary organic food and drink. Don’t miss these hip festivals, and keep an eye out for a five-course Farm to Table dinner and Holistic Life Farm tour on July 30. Places will be limited so stay tuned!

Community members near and far are invited to come every Saturday for live music, fresh produce, seedlings, baked goods, honey, houseplants, art, crafts, fibers, body care products, culinary delights, treats and more!
