The Preston High School Farmer’s Market opened at 2780 Schurz Ave. There is a wide range of produce available, from locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables to artisan baked goods and health and wellness products. The market, which opened on June 28, is a great place to connect and support the rest of the community, as many vendors are from the Bronx and have started their own businesses. The market is also a perfect stop to relax and look around after a shift.

Sellers are excited to show the community their products. There is a product for everyone; it can be something fun like alcohol-infused products from Tipsy Treats to something healthy like Pea Blossom Tea from S&S Health and Wellness. For sellers, the people who show up are the highlight.

When asked what’s best in selling, Karen Pedrosa of the company “Kay Love” thinks it’s the happiness that customers display when they buy her products. She is a Bronx based artist and screen printer with a passion for the art of graffiti. His products are clothes with his own graffiti art, with his love of the Bronx bleeding into it.

Pedrosa’s art is displayed next to La Masa, a restaurant on East Tremont Avenue and Montgomery Place. Her favorite thing about the farmer’s market is connecting with customers and meeting other people. For Pedrosa, the market is about community, and other sellers agree too.

The owner of Brinsmade Bakeshop, a small bakery specializing in artisan baked goods, expresses that connecting with others and the community is the best part of the market.

“The Farmers’ Market has a very strong sense of community,” the owner said.

This is her second year at the Preston Farmers Market, selling her specialty biscuits which come in various flavors including M&M Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Walnut Raisin. The Preston High School Farmer’s Market takes place every Tuesday from June 28 to October 4 from 4-7 p.m. We hope to see you there.
