Sayre Farmers Market opens for the first time in 2022

Newswatch 16’s Nikki Krize stopped by to check it out.

SAYRE, PA – It was a great day to sit outside, grab a bite to eat, and shop.

This is exactly how people used to spend the day at Sayre Farmers Market.

“Vendors, food trucks, local produce, everything,” said Gina Stewart.

Stewart sells customizable fragrances at her Pink Zebra stand.

It has been coming to this market for about seven years.

“Go out on Fridays, shop, eat, produce, pies, cakes,” Stewart said.

The market is held at Howard Elmer Park in Sayre, sponsored by the Sayre Business Association.

This week kicks off the 2022 market.

“It’s good to go out, to go for a walk, to go to the food trucks,” said Sam Smith.

Smith comes every week with her children.

“The ice cream truck when it comes. I just want you to bring us some ice cream,” Smith said.

Vendors say that while it may not be the biggest market, they do well here.

This is Adam Yoachim’s 13th year; he owns Possum Hollow Perennials Farm.

“The environment, the trees, etc., it’s really good. It’s been going on for so long that it’s kind of like an institution in its own right. We have our own clientele,” Yoachim said.

The market takes place every Friday until October.
