SM Supermalls, in cooperation with Kadiwa on Wheels of the Ministry of Agriculture, successfully held the first Kadiwa Rolling Farmers Market at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds from April 29 to May 1, 2022.

Paving the way to prosperity for farmers. Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, RestoPH and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement led the opening ceremony held at the SM MOA Concert Grounds on April 29, 2022.

Transforming concert venues into a huge hub for fresh produce and unique food finds, the Kadiwa Rolling Farmers Market brought together local food producers from all 13 regions of the Philippines. Participants received four- to six-wheel trucks so they could market their best-selling produce, seedlings, spices, fresh and affordable produce, and seasonal fruits.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by DA USec. Kristine Evangelista, Deputy Director of DA, Junibert De Sagun, President of RestoPH, Eric Teng, SM Premier 3 SAVP for Operations, Perkin So, and Vice President of the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement, Nana Ozaeta.

“We launched this program in 2020. We set up stalls in our malls for our beleaguered rural farmers to sell their produce. The caravans were able to provide a sustainable solution that directly connected farmers to the consuming public and offered shoppers the opportunity to buy fresh, nutritious produce at a lower cost. With programs like this, we have been able to ensure that no individual has been left behind,” said SM Supermalls President Steven T. Tan.

The Farmers’ Commodity Market Caravan is a joint project between SM Supermalls, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Resto PH, a restaurant association in the Philippines. Launched in July 2020, this program has helped thousands of DA farmers and food producers by providing them with free spaces inside SM malls to display and sell their products to shoppers and restaurateurs.
